At our VCO Plant, Virgin Coconut oil is extracted from the fresh organic coconuts by a cold press process.

The process ensures the maximum retention of natural nutrients in the crystal-clear liquid.

Hence, VCO contains large amounts of healthy antioxidants, medium chain fatty acids (MCFA), and vitamins.

What differs virgin from refined/RBD oil?

Virgin Coconut Oil is obtained by expelling fresh coconut meat by a cold press process. The freshness of coconuts used make sure the final oil has the characteristic fresh coconut aroma, while the cold press process ensures the retention of Nutrients. Also, the brown colour Testa around the coconut meat is removed before expelling to make sure the final product is clear in colour. Virgin is best for hair and skin appliances.

Whereas, refined/RBD oil is obtained from expelling the dried coconut meat (Copra) and the oil goes through a high temperature refining process to reduce odour, colour and free fatty acids. RBD is perfect for high temperature cooking.

What is a cold press process?

In a Cold press process, oil is obtained by pressing coconut meat using oil expeller machines that involves no additional chemicals or heat. The temperature throughout the processing line is maintained below the standard level of 55 Celsius. The process ensures maximum amounts of nutrients such as antioxidants retained in the final product, and with a better shelf life. The process is also deemed to be environmentally friendly comparatively to other methods.

Is the product 100% organic certified & do you provide traces?

Yes. SMR’s Virgin Coconut Oil is 100% Organic Certified from Control Union Certifications for USDA, EU and JAS Organic schemes. The company is annually audited for these certifications for continual. Also, we are providing transaction certificates for each batch/shipment. And if you are in EU countries, we are providing traces, so the interested parties can track down the product’s origins.

Can we get this product under our brand?

Yes, you can. Manufacturing facilities at SMR can provide the products under private labels exactly as you desire. Our merchandizers and supply chain have years of experience in designing and printing labels, cartons etc. as per customer needs.

Are your manufacturing facilities certified and audited?

Yes, we obtained our first process certification in 2015, which included GMP, HACCP and ISO 22000. To this date the company maintains these standards with continuous improvements and is subjected to annual audits from certification agencies.

In 2018, the company went a step further from ISO 22000, and obtained GFSI recognised FSSC 22000 certification in order to add more value and trust to our international transactions. The company partnered with the leading Norwegian certification agency DNV-GL in order to obtain the certification.

How do you handle customer complaints?

We have a written & implemented customer complaint handling procedure. As per the procedure (Which also fulfils the requirements of safety systems we have placed), we gather information, perform root cause analysis, offer and execute solutions and follow up with the customers. If it’s a quality related issue, our Quality Assurance department will be in direct touch with the customers. We also have a proper back tracing system in place to track down the product in each step of the supply chain.

Do you have a proper product recall system?

Yes, we do. Our quality assurance division have developed documented product recall procedures as per requirements of FSSC 22000 certification system. The procedure is tested by mock recalls annually and undergoes continuous improvements each year.
